ADHD ASSESSMENTS

Let’s get to the root of what’s going on.

ARE YOU...

✔︎ Concerned that your child has trouble focusing?

✔︎ Worried they have trouble controlling their behaviour and making good choices?

A proper assessment is the first step to the support your child deserves.

An ADHD assessment can help children understand their challenges better, and can lead to feelings of validation and acceptance.

Learn more about your child’s behaviour and the underlying reason behind their behaviour.

Many individuals with Attention Deficit / Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) have difficulty paying attention, especially during boring tasks, need a lot of reminders to get things done, and have organizational challenges. Some children have a lot of restless energy or struggle to think through the consequences before acting. There are different types of ADHD depending on the combination of symptoms.

An assessment of ADHD involves using standardized measures and careful consideration of other potential causes of your child’s behaviour (e.g. anxiety, learning difficulties, depression, sleep problems). Learning disabilities sometimes co-exist with ADHD, and in-depth psycho-educational assessment (which includes an evaluation for ADHD) may be recommended, depending on your child’s individual needs.

An assessment can provide direction and choices as to what interventions (e.g. coaching, therapy, further assessment, etc.) best fit your child’s needs and how your child can be better supported at school.

How It Works

An ADHD assessment involves gathering data from multiple sources. An in-depth parent interview and standardized questionnaires are needed to learn about your child’s behaviour at home.

With your consent, valuable information is gathered from your child’s teacher to learn about your child at school.

Depending on your child’s age, they may be asked to participate in a clinical interview, answer standardized questionnaires, and/or complete specific tasks. Each assessment is tailored to your child’s age and unique needs.

FEE: $2340

How can I prepare my child for an ADHD assessment?

Talk to your child about the reason for the appointment, so they are not surprised.

Let them know that they will be asked some questions about themselves, including their strengths and challenges. They may also be asked to complete some simple tasks in the session.
